Our farm is in Gloucestershire where we started
sourcing the herd in late 2003 with an aim to prove
that alpacas are viable, here to stay and to spread the word
that they are relatively straightforward and very rewarding.
Our first 6 intrepid alpacas, pregnant females,
arrived here in 2004. All ranging from 3-7 years, different
colours and soon to prove to us different temperaments.
These girls taught us so much and it was they who decided
the Naish family future. Soon numbers swelled, either by
purchases or new arrivals. At first we leased a stud
male, and added pregnant females to the herd. Then after a
couple of years invested in a stud male of our own.
The whole family
have taken time to bring our alpacas to the public's
attention, especially at shows where we have exhibited and
also assisted by being stewards and handlers for other
breeders. The alpacas have always been the stars and have
brought home many rosettes.
We realised that for our breeding plan to go forward we also
need to sell animals, so this meant parting with some of our
babies, but we soon found like minded people who have become
friends and much to our delight feel able to call on us for
help and advice any time, this we are more than happy to share for people
and animals alike.
In life things are not always as straightforward as you hope
they will be, we are where we are now, thanks to the support
of family, old friends and many new, good friends made along
the way.
